上一个章节我们提供四个用颜色表达的句式，不知道大家是否还记得。

 

请看以下表达：

1 She looks a bit blue today. What’s happened? （低落）

2 I was nervous about the test. But I passed it with flying colours！（成功）

3 Only after a while can we get to see others’ true colours. （真面目）

4 I didn’t realise the grass the greener on the other side while I thought I got the best offer from this company. The other one offered me higher salary as well as higher position. （一山更比一山高）

 

今天我们继续关于颜色表达这个话题。

 

句式一：black and white

“黑与白”？其实这和中文里对黑白的诠释是一致的，就是“对错之分”“黑白分明”。

 

举个栗子：

He tries to see everything in black and white although he knows this is impossible

他试着黑白分明，但他知道这不太可能。

 

句式二：black out

这里的black还是跟颜色有那么一丁点关系的，意思就是“停电”。试想一下停电不就是意味着眼前周围一片黑暗吗？

 

举个栗子：

There usually is black out in summer due to the electricity shortage.

在夏天常常由于供电不足导致停电。

 

另外，这个black out还有“昏迷”的意思。两眼一闭，不就是中文里的“眼前一黑”了吗？

 

举个栗子：

Suddenly a man blacked out during the parade and had to be helped to a quiet place.

在游行中突然有个男人晕倒了。他不得不被带往安静的地方。

 

句式三：black sheep (of the family)

“黑色的羊”是什么意思？难道是羊群里的一头黑羊吗？不是的。指的是一个家庭（族）/群体中的“害群之马（yang）”。也就是中文里的“一锅粥里的老鼠屎”了。（不知我的中文释义是否正确？掩面~）

 

举个栗子：

The man is the black sheep in his family and is the only member who has not had a successful career and life.

这个人是他家族里的耻辱，他是一个事业无成的。
