1. 缩略 缩略书写就是用尽量少的字符来表达源语的含义。这个概念，考生应该都不会太陌生。 为什么这么说呢，来看这几个例子： ① Uni.; Dep. ② BTW; ASAP; PS ③ BJ; SH 上面这些东西都是什么意思?我想大部分考生都明白： ① 大学(university);系、学院(department) ② 顺带一提(by the way);尽快(as soon as possible)，附言(postscript) ③ 长沙(Beijing);上海(Shanghai) 这些就是缩略书写最为常见和广泛应用的例子，被称为缩略(abbreviation)。在遇到一个超过 5 个字母的单词时，我们用这个单词中的某几个字符(一般不超过 4 个)来代 替这个单词，就是我们要强调缩略的概念。经过缩略，上面 TPO例子中的笔记可以为： ano. donor pay scul.。例如： ① Only then will the feedback, whether positive or negative, be useful. ② Only by seeking a balance between these needs can we hope to accomplish our goal. 表示原因与现象的句型： 22、Thanks to =Owing to =Due to…(因为……)，主句例如：Thanks to iPad, Apple becomes world’s biggest maker of computers. 23、have an impact on something (对……有影响) 例如：In effect, individuals and groups can have an impact on the political and social order. 24、bring about= generate= engender= induce (带来，造成) 例如：Curriculum development made a difference; resource-based learning brought about a total change of attitude and need. 25、A is the/a key determinant of B(A是B的关键决定因素) 例如：Some see family income as the key determinant of access to the top universities from which elites are recruited into large companies or the bureaucracy. 26、…on the grounds that (基于……理由) 例如：The film could be criticized on the grounds that all of the characters are white, “respectable” and economically advantaged. 27、justify (证明……有道理) 例如：Ms. Steinberg justified the College Board’s decision to release a photo database to colleges, despite ACT inc. ’s decision to refrain. 28、be ascribed to =be attributed to =be traced to (被归因于……) 例如：Only one in 12 instances of poor quality can be ascribed to insufficient effort by the practitioner. 29、stem from = arise from= spring from (源于) 例如：Such disagreements may stem from a variety of causes. 30、A render B+形容词/名次（A使B……） 例如：The language of the extract(摘选) has been modernized to render it accessible to the general reader.
