Indirect Object

间接宾语

To review, nouns name people, places, things, and ideas.

名词可以指代人、地点、事物和观点。

Nouns can function as indirect objects. An indirect object is the recipient of the direct object. Not all sentences have indirect objects.

名词可以作间接宾语。间接宾语时直接宾语的接受者。不是所有的句子都有间接宾语。

If the sentence has an indirect object, it will always come between the verb and the direct object. If there is information after the direct object about who received it, that is most likely a prepositional phrase (Jeff three the ball to Mark.). A prepositional phrase cannot be an indirect object.

句子的间接宾语通常在动词和直接宾语之间。如果直接宾语之后带有关于动作接受者的信息，这极有可能是介词短语(Jeff three the ball to Mark.)。介词短语不能作间接宾语。

To find an indirect object:

找出间接宾语：

1) Find the verb. Is it an action verb?

1)找出动词，这个动词是行为动词吗?

2) If it is an action verb, put the verb in the blank and ask "____ who or what?" Now, you have found the direct object.

2)如果是行为动词，把动词放进空白处，并思考"____ who or what?"就可以找出直接宾语。

3) Now, ask "to whom or for whom"? If the sentence tells you the answer to this question, you have found an indirect object.

3)然后思考"to whom or for whom"?如果这句话给出了答案，就可以找出间接宾语。
